Abstrak

The implementation of general compulsory courses/subjects taught at various levels of education in Indonesia ranging from elementary school to tertiary education both public and private, has been a package of lessons determined by the government to foster the same insight for all Indonesian citizens. So through this general and compulsory subject education, it is expected that citizens will have the character of pride in accordance with the values ​​of national life. But not always ‘the values’ ​​that grow in students can be formed in accordance with the expectations that have been set in various government policies because the values ​​taught in addition to being too uniform and teaching are required from lower level education to higher education. This not only gives rise to burnout but also does not provide a direction that is focused in accordance with the "need and want" of each individual. Therefore we need an alternative companion course that is more focused and able to hit the desire to grow, direct, guide and develop the actual basic human character through alternative self-development courses. The Ariyanti Academy of Secretary and Management (ASM Ariyanti) as one of the vocational education tertiary institutions in the West Java region has long been implementing courses in the nature of general education / values ​​that are able to touch directly on the needs of individual human beings through humanist pressures. This course can be used as an alternative companion to existing general compulsory courses, but with a different approach so that it is expected to complement existing courses and be able to achieve the desired goals in growing positive moral values ​​that can support the goals of vocational education in graduating individuals who have strong human values ​​(soft skills) in the world of work to be lived.
